Our School Trip to Dublin

Authors: Rossini Verdiana, Stango Maria Antonietta, Saltalamacchia Virginia

Every year, our school organises a language study abroad in a foreign city. Last year we went to Dublin; there were 28 of us, including students from first year to fourth year. We stayed with a host family for one week. Some host families were friendly and polite.

In the morning we followed the lesson at the “Delfin school” with an English teacher and then we visited the city. Our favourite part of Dublin was Trinity College and it’s big library because it can be seen in the Harry Potter film. We also saw St. Patrick’s Cathedral, which is a beautiful gothic church.

The experience was constructive because we were allowed for the first time to take the bus alone in a big city and to speak in a language that was not ours.

The strangest thing for us was the driving because in Italy you drive on the left while in Dublin the people drive on the right. The accomodations were comfortable and bright but others had different opinions. The food was typically Irish and we tried new and interesting flavors.

In my opinion Dublin is a big city, there is plenty of things to see. I stayed in a host family, the landlady was very friendly and gorgeous.

I took part in both school trips, to Dublin and to Brighton but my favourite was Brighton.

I was in Dublin and I agree with this article but in Brighton this year I was much better because there was more organization. This year the lessons were in the morning, the excursions were in the afternoon and my host family was cool!

I love Dublin, as my students should know 🙂 It is such a young city and is full of life. Ireland hasn’t always been like this. The entire country has a long history of being poor and behind in many things, but today it is going through a renaissance of its own. It has the best of both worlds…it is a historic place but is very progressive at the same time. Yay, Dublin!

I never had a chance to visit it but I would like it very much.
