This drama is based on a true story (2018). The setting is a prison in Italy. The protagonists are Stefano Cucchi and the Carabinieri. On 22 October 2009, Stefano Cucchi was arrested for drug dealing and died in police custody. His family suspected that he was murdered by the Carabinieri. The movie shows their painful journey to discover the truth.
The film focuses on the days from Stefano’s arrest to his death and follows the facts. Sulla mia pelle is neither a documentary not does it condemn. Rather, it is a work that takes a broader view of something that has a far-fetching meaning. That is, the fact that a person in good health, in a democratic state like Italy, can die being entrusted to the hands of the State.
