“Her” is a recent film which is set in the near future and takes place in Los Angeles.
Theodore, the protagonist, is a charming and complex man who, after divorcing his wife Catherine, becomes lonely and sad. Technology is so present in people’s lives that it replaces real people! This is a drama about a virtual love affair between Theodore and an operating system called Samantha. They understand and don’t judge each other. Everything goes well until he discovers something shocking about Samantha that changes the situation..!
It’s a sobering film because, in my opinion, we shouldn’t ever replace real relationships with something evanescent and virtual: we would lose the beauty of physical contact or looking someone in the eyes.
